Richard & Patricia Bowen's Daylily GardenAmerican Hemerocallis Society Display Garden Richard and Patricia Bowen We have a private American Hemerocallis Society Display Garden. Our 0.4 of an acre Garden is located in the Northeast section of Paradise, California at an elevation of 2,300 feet above the Northern Sacramento Valley. We are located 15 miles up the Skyway from Chico. We have over 700 different verities (cultivars) of Daylilies. Our Collection includes mini, small, large, doubles, spider and unusual form Daylilies. The collection includes landscaping, small garden, rock garden and collector’s Daylilies from 100 different Hybridizers. Peak bloom season is mid to late June. Pat and Richard have lived in the home for 35 Years. The Bark Beetles and Septic System failure gave us the opportunity to re-landscape our yard seven years ago. We live on a corner lot and all four sides of the yard are landscaped. For Hardscape we used over 2700 Pyzique stone for walls and planters, Faux Flagstone for walkways, 70 yards of walk on bark to cover the soil, added two dry streambeds and 5 berms. The new plants were selected from the “Allergy-Free Gardening” book. We selected plants to give us year around color. We have Japanese Maples, Flamingo Maple, 2 kinds of Birches, Redwood, Pine, true honoke cypress, etc. We have several small concept or scene gardens with various perennials, annuals, etc. Every Daylily, Plant, Tree have professional labels for their identification.
